All observers must sign liability waivers prior to riding.

What should a woman wear on a police ride along?
All participants in the ride-along program will wear casual slacks or neat jeans, and a shirt with a collar. Dresses, Skirts, T-shirts, shorts, sweats, or any article of clothing displaying any rude or offensive logos are expressly prohibited. Shoes should be comfortable with a non-slip type of sole (no high heels.)

Most of the time you will be alright with bringing a nice dark blue or white button up or polo shirt, some dark blue or black pants and some sort of boots or tennis shoes. For girls, the same clothing as a man would wear will work fine. Make sure not to wear a dress or skirt to the fire house.

Are ride alongs free?
Ride-alongs must be free from any serious criminal convictions. A brief background check is completed prior to any ride along. If you would like to participate in the program please download the Ride-Along Request Form and submit it to the coordinator.
How do I get a ride along with LAPD?
If you want to sign up for a ride-along, we recommend visiting one of our 21 community police stations. Ask to speak with the on-duty Supervisor or Watch Commander. Only current LAPD applicants will be approved for a ride-along.
